What Is an F1 Sheepadoodle?

An F1 Sheepadoodle is a designer mix breed dog with a relaxed, happy-go-lucky, family-friendly personality. It’s a cross between Poodle and Old English Sheepdogs, resulting in low- or non-shed coats that are allergy-friendly. Whether you simply prefer to avoid the challenges of shedding or have household members with allergies, they’re an excellent choice.

“F1” is a designation that notes the generation of the Sheepadoodle puppy. Whether Standard or Mini, an F1 Sheepadoodle is a cross between an Old English Sheepdog and Poodle, resulting in a 50/50 genetic mix.

Typically, an F1 Sheepadoodle is black and white, though they may have other coat colors. While they have low- or no-shed coats, regular grooming – including brushing, bathing, and trimming – helps keep their coats and skin healthy while reducing shedding by cleaning up loose hairs.

F1 Mini Sheepadoodle Puppies for Sale

Our F1 Mini Sheepadoodles puppies for sale offer exceptional breed quality and have beautiful, vibrant personalities. Mini Sheepadoodles are like their larger counterparts; they’re just smaller!

Mini F1 Sheepadoodles are a designer mix breed coming from a Miniature Poodle and an Old English Sheepdog, creating a 50/50 mix. Since the Poodle is a smaller version, Mini Sheepadoodles don’t get as tall or weigh as much as Standard Sheepadoodle puppies. Typically, they are 15 to 20 inches high and weigh 20 to 40 pounds, though some may fall outside of that range.

F1 Standard Sheepadoodle Puppies for Sale

Our F1 Standard Sheepadoodle puppies for sale are bred with care and kindness, giving them lively, fun-loving personalities. These are the largest dogs in the Sheepadoodle family – and are often bigger than many other Doodles – making them good choices for active households with ample space.

Standard F1 Sheepadoodles are a designer mix breed coming from a Standard Poodle and Old English Sheepdog, creating a 50/50 genetic mix and a dog that’s bigger than a Mini F1 Sheepadoodle. They’re typically 21 to 28 inches high and usually weigh from 45 to 80 pounds, though some may vary outside of those ranges.

F1 Sheepadoodle Puppy Frequently Asked Questions

What Do the Different Generations Mean?

The different generations of Sheepadoodle puppies show how much of the puppy’s genetics are Poodle vs. Old English Sheepdog. Every generation has a similar temperament. But for those with severe allergies or who are shedding-averse, having a higher percentage of Poodle genes is usually best.

More Poodle genetics can reduce shedding, increasing the odds of no-shed puppies and making them more hypoallergenic. However, every generation is considered a low-shed breed, making them allergy-friendly in many cases.

Here is a breakdown of the different Sheepadoodle generations.

  • F1 Sheepadoodle: Old English Sheepdog crossed with a Poodle, making the puppy a 50/50 mix
  • F1b Sheepadoodle: F1 Sheepadoodle crossed with a Poodle, making the puppy 75 % Poodle
  • F1bb Sheepadoodle: F1b Sheepadoodle crossed with a Poodle, making the puppy 87.5 % Poodle
  • F2 Sheepadoodle: F1 Sheepadoodle crossed with an F1 Sheepadoodle, making the puppy a 50/50 mix
  • F2b Sheepadoodle: F1 Sheepadoodle crossed with an F1b Sheepadoodle, making the puppy 62.5 % Poodle
  • F3 Sheepadoodle: F1b Sheepadoodle crossed with an F1b Sheepadoodle, making the puppy 75 % Poodle
Do Sheepadoodles Shed?

Overall, Sheepadoodles are low- or no-shed breeds. How much they shed can vary depending on the percentage of Poodle genes, with more resulting in less shedding. Additionally, coat type plays a role, as curly-coated Sheepadoodles shed less than wavy or straight-coated Sheepadoodles.

However, even with no-shed breeds, that doesn’t mean that hairs never come loose. Hair grows and falls out in cycles, a process that is natural and unavoidable in any dog with hair or fur. It’s just less dramatic in low- and no-shed breeds.

Proper care is important with no- and low-shed dogs. Regularly brushing, washing, and trimming reduces shedding and allergens, so grooming is still essential to further control allergens and keep your pet’s skin and coat in the best possible shape.

How Big Do Sheepadoodles Get?

Sheepadoodles come in a variety of sizes. When it comes to their build, Sheepadoodles are a sturdy breed without being overly bulky. Beyond that, the size when full-grown depends on the type of Sheepadoodle.

Full-grown Mini Sheepadoodles are usually between 15 and 20 inches high and typically weigh between 20 and 40 pounds, though some may fall outside of those ranges. Full-grown Standard Sheepadoodles are generally 21 to 28 inches high and commonly weigh between 45 to 80 pounds. However, there are some that end up outside of those ranges, as well.

Are Sheepadoodles Hypoallergenic?

As a low- or no-shed breed, Sheepadoodles are hypoallergenic. Less shedding means fewer allergens are introduced into your home, making them allergy-friendly.

When a Sheepadoodle puppy has a higher percentage of Poodle genes, they’re often more hypoallergenic than those with lesser percentages. As a result, those with severe allergies may benefit from F1b or F1bb Sheepadoodle puppies. However, coat type and care also play a role.

Sheepadoddles generally come in three coat types: curly, wavy, and straight. Curly-coated Sheepadoodles are more likely to be no-shed, while straight, double-coated Sheepadoodles are on the other end of the spectrum, and wavy-coated Sheepadoodles fall in the middle. Even wavy and straight-coated Sheepadoodles are low-shed, so they’re still allergy-friendly in many cases.

How Much Does a Sheepadoodle Cost?

Our F1 Sheepadoodle puppies for sale vary in price, typically coming in the $3000 to $4000 range. Coloration and size are both factors in pricing.
